„When I heard Moritz Gamper's recordings for the first time, I was instantly taken with them. They were familiar to me and at the same time they couldn't be put into a pre-labelled box!“

Oliver Mally

„These songs create a feeling of timelessness and independence, detached from any geographical categorisation.“

BIO

Moritz Gamper

Originally from the small town of Meran in South Tyrol, Moritz first moved to South America, then to Spain, before finally settling in Vienna. Just as the singer-songwriter took his time to find the center of his life, so it is with his music: years of experiments and excursions across genres were necessary to find something that had actually always been there.

His debut laid the foundation — honest, raw, handmade songs recorded in his home studio. Delta Blues, Desert Blues, Folk. An acoustic guitar, a distinctive voice, and stories that felt equally at home in the Mississippi Delta of the 1930s as at a lonely campfire in the Alpine mountains.

With Dressed in Edelweiss (2026), Moritz takes the next step — and a bold one. His second album is also a homecoming of sorts: not nostalgic, but on his own terms. South Tyrol is present throughout — in the language, in the sound, in the character. It is his first multilingual work, weaving between English, South Tyrolean dialect, French and Italian. The sound has grown: jazz trumpets, double bass, accordion and blues harp join his voice, which has never sounded more relaxed or self-assured. The storytelling remains, but the frame has widened considerably.

The title says it all — and nothing at all. The edelweiss reinvents itself here, trading worn Alpine clichés for something more elegant, more subtle. Less Musikantenstadl, more jazz club in New York. Alpine goes international.
